Oversized Cargo OOG
Out Of Gauge
OOG (Out-of-Gauge) transport is our primary specialty. Unlike other forwarders, it is not just another service: it is the core of our business. We are dedicated to solving the most complex logistics challenges.
Oversized Cargo Service
Oversized cargo refers to any load that does not fit inside a standard container and therefore has extra dimensions. Depending on the type of cargo, we can choose to ship the goods in special containers or on MAFI platforms.
Our expertise is focused on machinery and complex cargo. We have successfully managed projects in the industrial, food and beverage, and construction sectors.
What's included in the service
Management and Procedures
We can provide port-to-port service with customs clearance at origin and destination. If necessary, we also offer specialized road transportation and crane service.
Shipping options
Oversized cargo
This service is designed to provide transportation solutions for static goods of large dimensions and/or weight. Depending on the characteristics of the cargo and the conditions of the shipment, we can determine the appropriate type of vessel and, therefore, the type of equipment on which the cargo should travel. The suitable equipment for this type of cargo includes special containers and MAFI platforms. Special containers include the Open Top, which allows the loading of goods with extra height, and the Flat Rack, which allows the loading of goods with extra height and width. These equipment are loaded onto container ships. MAFIs, on the other hand, are loaded onto Ro-Ro vessels.
Types of cargo
Project Cargo
Custom-engineered engineering projects such as packaging plants, recycling plants, structures, etc.
Machinery
Static machinery of all types such as construction cranes, baking machinery, industrial machinery, etc.
Industrial Vehicles
Large-sized rolling vehicles such as excavators, compactors, tractor-trailers, etc.
Loading options
Special Container
The cargo must be loaded into the appropriate container according to the type of oversize dimensions. Additionally, the cargo must be properly stowed and secured. The loading terminal may require a lashing certificate to allow the container to gate-in. As a general rule, it is recommended to transport the cargo to the port area and perform the transshipment, stowage, and lashing operations near the port.
MAFI
The cargo must be transported to the port and brought into the loading terminal. Once at the terminal, the cargo will be transshipped with a crane onto a MAFI. As indicated in the Ro-Ro section, MAFIs are rolling platforms that allow the loading of static cargo onto car carrier or Ro-Ro vessels.
